(College Work) DAS-374 - Mechanical Animation Test

Starting with the idea of creating a mech-themed game with a friend, I decided to create a mech that evoked some of the elements present in retro anime robots. Visible joints and rigid pieces make up the design of DAS-374 (Dynamic Artillery System 374), giving it the look of a sturdy, old-styled mech that sacrifices agility for sheer mass and resilience. Rather than trying to make the design look sleek and complex like contemporary mechs/robots (a la Michael Bay Transformers), DAS-374 is a callback to series like Gundam, while also having its own defining traits. The goal is to fully animate this mech and get it up and running as one of the many playable mechs in our upcoming prototype.

More information about the animations can be found on the Vimeo video descriptions.
